Description
The BIQU ViViD is a modular filament management and drying system designed for seamless integration into Klipper-based 3D printing environments, significantly enhancing multi-colour printing and overall print reliability.
Extended colour and filament capacity
ViViD is engineered for ambitious multi-colour projects. Each ViViD unit manages four filaments at the same time. By combining up to four units, the total capacity can be expanded to 16 different colours, enabling the creation of complex, vibrant multi-colour prints.
The system can be operated either with the native ViViD firmware or the open-source Happy Hare firmware, offering maximum flexibility and customisation.
Uninterrupted printing
The ViViD system reliably prevents long print jobs from failing due to material shortage. When a spool reaches its end, the replacement spool takes over automatically. This transition occurs without pausing, without warnings and without user intervention, ensuring the print completes successfully even if a spool runs out during the process.
Active filament drying
ViViD ensures consistently optimal material quality throughout the entire printing process:
- Integrated drying: The system actively heats and dries the filament during printing.
- Temperature control: An integrated cross-flow fan maintains perfectly even temperatures from entry to nozzle. This eliminates moisture-related issues such as stringing and brittleness, enabling flawless results with hygroscopic materials such as PLA, ABS, ASA and many others.
- Efficiency booster: A manually operated humidity exhaust valve can be used during the drying process to vent humid air. This significantly accelerates drying by actively drawing in dry ambient air.
Control and indication
The system can be fully integrated into the Klipper interface and provides intuitive status information:
► Klipper integration: ViViD is controlled directly via the Klipper display, without the need for a separate web browser. Status information, filament types and drying settings can all be accessed and adjusted here.
► RFID identification: ViViD can read RFID tags that follow open standard protocols, enabling automatic detection and configuration of the loaded filament.
Filament status LED:
- Blue: Filament is being loaded.
- Green: Filament is loaded and ready to print.
- Red: Spool is empty.
