DropEffect's OmniaDrop V3 is an exceptional all-in-one extruder designed for printing both flexible and fibrous materials. The main body of the extruder is made of PA-GF composite fibre, which has high strength and light weight.
Small planetary gear, but strong extrusion force
The OmniaDrop V3 features a space-saving planetary gearhead with an extrusion force of 100N, making the extruder capable of printing with even the most challenging materials! The 5:1 gear ratio means low torque is required to drive a 1.75mm or 3mm diameter filament.
Since low torque is required, the OmniaDrop V3 is equipped with a lightweight and compact Nema17 pancake stepper motor with a basis weight of 250g, which also keeps the weight of the entire extruder much lower.
Hardened steel dual drive system
For a non-slip and secure hold of the filament, OmniaDrop V3 uses two drive gears made of hardened steel with an HRC hardness of 60+ and close, sharp teeth. An RNC coating that achieves a surface hardness of up to HV3300+ ensures a long service life for the gears.
While the main drive gear is driven by the planetary gear, the idler gear is driven by the main drive gear with two ball bearings.
A specially developed cooling system against warping
The OmniaDrop V3 has a special cooling system that minimises the risk of warping. The cooling block was developed in such a way that the cooled air flows vertically upwards so that drafts from the cooling block do not affect the printed model.
The geometry of the component cooler has also been improved to quickly dissipate the heat of the extruded filament and thus achieve a higher cooling effect over a larger area.
Part cooling fan
A part cooling fan has been added to the extruder. You need this when printing some polymers like PLA and TPU, but the cooling fan is also helpful when printing bridges and other precise details, as it prevents curling on overhangs.
Ring heater as hotend
The extruder has a heating module for quickly measuring and controlling the temperature using a copper-nickel-plated ring heater (280 °C, 50 seconds), which is also used as a hotend. Its advantages are:
- An even power density around the nozzle,
- A better temperature distribution,
- A faster temperature measurement,
- A U- or O-shaped cooling fan can be placed closer to the nozzle.
Short filament path for more precise work with flexible filaments
Cooling fins were placed on the side of the cooling block with the aim of making the filament path as short as possible. This shortened filament path ensures that the extruder reacts faster and more precisely and that kinking does not occur. The sharp teeth of the two drive wheels grip the filament particularly firmly from both sides, which means that it is not only pushed smoothly but also evenly into the hotend.
Such a mix of short filament path and strong drive gears allows printing of any type of flexible filament!
Compatibility with E3D nozzles
OmniaDrop V3 is compatible with E3D nozzles. The extruder comes with an original 0.4 mm brass nozzle.
Symmetrical hardware design
All hardware components of the OmniaDrop V3 are built symmetrically, which means that the extruder can be mounted in a mirror image.
The main body of the extruder is also 3D printed and can be redesigned according to the user's individual wishes.
