Description
The Phaetus Liber™ High Flow Hotend is a high-flow hotend developed specifically for the Snapmaker U1. With an optimised melt channel, a precision-machined titanium heat bridge and a hardened, DLC-coated steel nozzle, it increases volumetric flow by up to 87% compared with the U1's standard stainless-steel hotend, while maintaining the same power consumption.
Split-channel melt structure for higher throughput
The Liber™ hotend uses a split-channel structure in the melt zone to optimise the filament path and reduce heat loss. Compared with the standard hotend, volumetric flow increases by up to 87% with ABS, 66% with PLA and 43% with PETG HF.
Hardened steel with DLC coating
The nozzle is made from hardened steel with an additional DLC coating, giving it a surface hardness of around HV 2000, while the base material itself measures approximately HV 725–780. By comparison, the U1's standard stainless-steel nozzle is rated at around HV 170–210. This makes the Liber hotend significantly more resistant to wear from abrasive filaments.
Precision-machined heat bridge to reduce clogging
The titanium-alloy heat bridge is precision-machined and has an internal channel roughness of Ra ≤ 0.2 µm. Smoother inner walls reduce filament adhesion and residue build-up, helping to ensure more consistent and reliable filament flow. Micrometre-level manufacturing tolerances also provide precise component interfaces and minimise the risk of material leakage at the joints.
Reliable quality even at high speeds
Compared with other high-flow hotends, the Liber™ hotend delivers reduced stringing, cleaner overhangs and bridges, and more consistent surface quality, even at high print speeds.
► Filament compatibility
The Liber hotend is compatible with a wide range of filaments, including standard and effect PLA grades, PETG (including HF and Translucent), ABS, ASA, PC, as well as carbon- and glass fibre-reinforced materials such as PLA-CF, ASA-CF, PA6-CF/GF and PAHT-CF. When switching from filaments with print temperatures above 250 °C to more temperature-sensitive materials such as PLA or PETG, the heat bridge must be cleaned. Carbon- and glass fibre-reinforced filaments, as well as wood-filled PLA and TPU, are compatible but are not specifically recommended due to the potential risk of clogging or inconsistent feeding.
Installation Guide on Phaetus Wiki
Included:
- 4 x 0.4 mm hotend assemblies (incl. thermistor)
- 8 x M3x12 screws
- 4 x Wiki cards
Technical specifications:
| Compatible device | Snapmaker U1 |
| Maximum volumetric flow | 55 mm³/s |
| Heat bridge material | Titanium alloy |
| Product dimensions | 48 x 26.5 x 15 mm |
| Nozzle material | Hardened steel + DLC coating |
| Print temperature | up to 300 °C |
| Weight | 24 g |
| Note: The nozzle can reach temperatures of up to 300 °C. Installation, nozzle changes and cleaning of the heat bridge must only be carried out once the hotend has cooled down. The U1 does not currently support different nozzle diameters within the same print job; all toolheads used must therefore be fitted with hotends of the same nozzle diameter. |
